Nalanda Guru Pranama Pin Bima housing scheme in Kaduwela, Bomiriya was launched with the laying of the foundation stone by the Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa on 8th of December. A valuable ancestral land of 2 ½ Acres, situated in an idyllic environment, at Ihala Bomiriya, Kaduwela, has been donated for this purpose by Mrs.Indrani Rodrigo Munasinghe, a retired teacher with had taught for over 40 years oat Nalanda Vidyalaya.
Old Nalandians' Buddhist Association (ONBA) have finalized plans to embark on a meaningful Project by introducing a blessed landscape for veneration of retired teachers worldwide who have devoted their precious lives for the wellbeing of students at Nalanda College – a symbol of education for the revival of Buddhist ideals in Sri Lanka.
Professor Padmajeewa Ganepola is to be recognized for his excellent achievements in the field of medicine. He was awarded the "Nalanda Keerthi Siri" which is a lifetime award given for achievements and excellence in the respective career fields to former Nalandians, at the college annual prize giving 2011.
A special general meeting of the members of ONBA is called to officially acknowledge the commencement of Nalanda Guru Pranama Pin Bima project and direct all the members on future proceedings of the project. This meeting will take place on the 15th Sunday of September, at 3 p.m. at College premises.
Nalanda Guru Gammanaya can be considered as the largest ever continuing project carried out on behalf of mother Nalanda. Being undertaken this giant task, Association expects all its members’ presence at this meeting and their generous contribution towards the success of this project. Also, all Old Nalandians of distinct fields are kindly invited herewith to take part in this meeting and contribute to this noble project with their specialized professions or by other possible means.
