The 7th Annual General Meeting of the Old Nalandians’ Buddhist Association will be held at the ‘Language Center’ of Nalanda College on Saturday the 7th May 2011 commencing from 3.00 pm.
Whilst looking forward to the presence of its members at the AGM, the Association wishes to invite the Old Nalandians who have not yet obtained the membership of ‘ONBA’, to come & join hands with the ‘ONBA’ to show your gratitude to the mother Nalanda.
ONBA members visited Maharagama Cancer Hospital patients on 13th of Feb and presented a meal of sup and fruits while adding some specialty to their day routines. Event was a success and our special thanks go to the youth of the society and college 2004 A/L batch.
Annual “Guru Upahara” program for retired teachers of mother Nalanda, was held at “Voice of Mithuru-Mithuro”, Katukurunda, Kaluthara on 8th of August. ONBA Chief Adviser Ven. Kuppiyawathe Bodananda Thero has been continuing this program for years and this time also program took place throughout the whole day successfully. Including retired Principals Mr. Gunapala Wickramarathna and Mr. Dharma Gunasinghe, over 50 teachers were present at the occasion.
Remarking another golden era for mother Nalanda, Principal Mr. Hemantha Premathilaka retired recently. Admiring his excellent duty to school over last 10 years, a felicitation program was held on 1st of June at school premises. Mr. Premathilaka assumed as an Assistant Secretary in Education Ministry and we as the ONBA, wish all the success for him on his new position.
